About this site

How the figures on this site are checked

Every figure with a copper mark here comes from a Cyprus law as published, from the public body that applies it, or, for what a bank asks of its customers, from the bank's own pages. Here's how that works, and what to do if you spot a mistake.

Sources

Where the figures come from

The figures come from the Cyprus laws as published, and from the departments and public bodies that apply them, such as the Registrar of Companies, the Migration Department and the Business Support Centre. What a bank asks of its customers comes from that bank's own published pages, and it's listed under its own heading, because it's the bank's practice, not a rule of law. Before a figure goes on a page, the passage that carries it has to be quoted word for word from the source. Other websites, including other relocation guides, are never a source.

The mark

What the copper mark means

A copper mark next to a figure means it's traced to one of those primary sources. At the foot of each page with figures you'll find every source used and the date it was checked. The mark tells you where a figure comes from, not whether it applies to you: that depends on your situation.

Conflicting sources

When the sources don't agree

Official documents sometimes contradict each other. Where a page states a point its sources disagree on, it gives each source's version or sends you to the authority that can settle it; it doesn't pick one and present it as settled, and a contested figure never carries the mark.

Changes

When the rules change

The "Updated" date at the top of a page is the latest date on which one of its sources was checked. When I learn that a rule has changed, I update the pages it affects.

Mistakes

Found a mistake?

Write to contact@cyprusrelo.com and tell me the page and the figure. I check it against the source, and if I got it wrong, I correct the page.
